I almost forgotten about this search engine. I don't know how, but my thought brings me back again to the search engine. Today is the first time I checked it out again after quite some time and oh boy was I surprised with the new layout that they have! It's now in blue color and the whole page has been redesigned. If I'm not mistaken it was something like yellow based web page. Can't remember though.

I'm still looking around on how to submit to them. Still can't find the page yet. Any idea where to find it? I hope I do get indexed by this search engine as well.

I haven't looked at the Lycos search engine in years. I remember when I first got connected to the internet many years ago and Lycos wa my designated homepage. If I am totally honest I'm surprised the site is still running. I would not have been surprised if Google and Yahoo had pushed it out of business.
If I remember correctly it wasn't the most effective search engine. Does anyone know if it has improved? |

Yeah, that's another search engine (Altavista) that we have neglected. Can't really see anybody using it today anymore. In fact, even the site has been totally redesigned. Last time if I'm not mistaken, it was yellow in color.

Even i havent used it for year or more now. Also neglected altavista too. I dont think any one would be using it any more.
And rather then we submitting to the search engine their bots should have the potensial to find our content, if thats not the case then the search engine isant worth. I never submitted my sites to yahoo & MSN but great to see that my sites are indexed and their robots are crawling to my site. I think you dont need to submit to altavista, cos it uses Yahoo's DB.

The deaths or almost-demise of these has-been search engines is a cautionary story for everyone to be vigilant about the pace of change and to keep up with it. If rather, we will be left behind.

Yeah long time. It's a forgotten search engine. I think once you are left behind and don't keep pace with the development, you are out.

Google really does dominate the search engine market these days. I do still use Yahoo, but mainly becuase they offer quick access to local and world news. It really is a shame that one search engine should dominate the market, although having said that Google is fantastic.
Does anyone remember any other search engines aside from Yahoo, Google and Lycos? |
|

Well google really have everything. It think today what's left on the search engine world is only like between Yahoo and Google and maybe MSN. The others command too little or insignificant share market to make any difference.

Well I have seen two new search engines appear recently and disappear equally quickly it must be said. They seemed to realise that they could not overcome Google or Yahoo with just the power of their search engines. Instead they decided to pay the people who carried out web searchers, unfortunately this soon bankrupted them.
Looks like it will be Google and Yahoo for a long time to come! Last edited by the_raven_group; 05-07-2008 at 06:21 PM. |

Google is a very powerful search engine and I have always found it highly useful in the past. I do however have some complaints about the search engine. For one it sometimes limits your search and then offers you th eopportunity to incorporate the other results. Why not just let me see them all from the beginning!
One good feature is that if you spell a word wrong it actually brings up suggestions, which is always helpful |
