Microsoft failed to buy Facebook?

Did you know this news? I heard some people said Microsoft failed to buy Facebook. Its true or not? Anyone know about this issue?

I thought the deal has already been sealed off with Microsoft winning the bid over Google. They actually paid 240million (small amount for Microsoft of course) to secure the bought over. I think this happened sometime in Oct. Your statement really come as a surprise!!!

You must be living under a rock for a while. The deal is one of the few that Microsoft managed to score over Google. However, in a long run, I don't think Facebook will be as profitable as Google's other ventures. Most facebook app developers are not even monetizing their apps.

I don't see where your potshot is coming from. Personally, I do feel overwhelmed by the number of applications for Facebook. However, it is quite a useful network to share photos amongst friends. Just imagine trying to upload 200+ photos after a holidays with friends. With Facebook, I only have to do it once.

Yes. I think that powell person never have fun at facebook. If he come and try at least for 1 week, i believe he will see his smile everyday at mirror.

Facebook have a big chance to get a big profit. Once Microsoft find a good way to monetize it, maybe Friendster will lose from the battle of the social website.

Facebook is a good place for people to show their programming skills (writing small applications to big applications) its got a massive CTR on the ad's they run meaning its a perfect place for companies who want to advertise and also its a good place for people to get noticed.

Today it was annouced that the creator of Facebook is now worth over $1.5billion just because one day he turned around and said to himself:

"I want to keep in touch with old friends... I'll make this site for us"

More and more friends joined and now its (imo) the biggest social site for students and young adults.

(please note I hate myspace as its full of band's spamming you and just random people adding you for no reason)
