Default Yahoo:independent or not?

I bet you've all heard about "microsoft want to buy yahoo". But yahoo still refuse. Do you think it's because they want a higher offer or they just want to stay independent? Give me some opinions.

It's hard to know what is really on their mind (Yahoo). The only way to find out is when Microsoft make a much better deal matching to their demand and see what it goes from there. It's really hard to tell at the moment. There's possibility they would rather stay independent rather than being bought over.

I do not believe it is a matter of wanting a higher offer. I think that Yahoo just has decided that at this point they want to stay as just Yahoo.

That's somehow what others seems to believe as well. Even the Maven Networks acquisition does tell a lot on their intention to remain independent. However, only those people in Yahoo can really tell you what's really in their mind.

Default I guess so..

Yahoo is an independent company, of course, but I guess you're right when you said that nobody know the real reasons except the people in Yahoo themselves.

I also think yahoo is independent. They are around for long time and survive on own. But now, who has money can buy what they want. If yahoo work hard, they can make money and so still independent.

Well, they have been independent for a very very long time. I don't see why they need microsoft in the first place. Anyway, there's a renewed news about the takeover.

I hope yahoo remain independent. Good to see what they can do and introduce new thing to us. Also better because they can challenge microsoft one day.

I am actually 2 minds about this. Nobody likes Microsoft to swallow up Yahoo. But at the same time, I think Yahoo really needs a serious makeover and revamp. Yahoo search engine is terrible for example.

Maybe. but its decision from them. We only can think and advice about that. Its time for them to take the move. If not, microsoft will always big for that.

Looks like the deal is not yet off
Microsoft Corp will raise its $31-per-share offer for Yahoo Inc and upgraded Yahoo shares to "buy" from "hold." The brokerage also raised its price target on Yahoo's stock to $34 from $31, saying it believed Microsoft remained committed to its offer and "is capable of and willing to" increase that bid to conclude the deal.
