Default Microsoft Withdraws Proposal to Acquire Yahoo!

Quote:
“Despite our best efforts, including raising our bid by roughly $5 billion, Yahoo! has not moved toward accepting our offer. After careful consideration, we believe the economics demanded by Yahoo! do not make sense for us, and it is in the best interests of Microsoft stockholders, employees and other stakeholders to withdraw our proposal,” said Ballmer.
Well looks like after our long discussion, the deal will not materialize. Long live Yahoo!

Oh! Bad luck there for Microsoft. Practically speaking i did want this deal to go through, I did like supporting Microsoft.

May be google has some thing more to offer Yahoo than what Microsoft offered. Initiall its the deal of contract between their ads campaing. It came to my reading that both of them are almost set to sign a deal.

Google once again proving about it being much more alert, active and a business leader.

The decision to acquire and then give up on Yahoo shows Microsft's lack of direction in charting its internet strategy. Both Yahoo and Google can now heave a sigh of collective relief.

Now it is Jerry Yang's turn to justify why he rejected Microsoft's offer. He had to show to shareholders that this sale was aborted with their best interests a heart.

It seems to be all over now. No idea what's up for tomorow

The latest news what i heard is that after Microsoft withdrawing its deal, now the shares of Yahoo which had a very high increase in price have totally dropped down to the ground.

Dont know how much correct this info is but since its moving around then it obviously would be true.

I think Yahoo probably had a rise in their share prise only because of the hopes that its going to partner with Microsoft. This does shows how much faith or confidence people have in Microsoft.

I support Jerry all the way, I admire him for being firm and today he just threw some good bet at microsoft. If he loses he's prepared to lose his job and everything. Hat's off to Jerry.

The unintended beneficary as a result of this failed bid is Google who has extended an olive branch to Google by agreeing to collaborative advertising efforts.

Just hope they don't get too close together and form another advertising alliance and monopoly!

Geee...rather when I think of it. Do you think Microsoft is just buying time? Talk about money, they can really afford it but why do they want to back off. Weird. Don't tell me there's something fishy behind.

Oh man. I thought yahoo would have taken the offer. I dont see why they didnt take it. There is alot of other competition out there . Not a good idea in my opinion.

Possible but not likely. Microsoft has been accused of many things but I think one of their virtue is that they are rather straightfoward and not devious when making corporate deals.

Now watch Google trying to court Yahoo in a much subtle and dangerous way - Jerry Yang is more in danger than ever!

Finally they withdraw. So, i don't know what will happen to Yahoo. I hope their will provide great service to make sure their business run well. If not, not only Microsoft will try to buy Yahoo. Might be Google also interested too.
