Morning all, I will cut this one short so you dont get bored of the reason for the post:

I was approached in the pub last night by one of the DJ's who wanted to know about page rank, now I only knew very basic information on it and how not to lose it.

I told him about the links between sites and the sites "popularity" and just getting the links.

But does anyone know the best way of getting the links to boost the PR, its sitting at 0 atm as there is no links out there, without getting slapped by google.

I was thinking of paid links, but google says no to them, but I dont know any other way to get [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] linked

May be what he can try is link exchange or directory submission. Dont for for any paid directories but he can always submit to some free directories. Also some social networking sites and some thing like Yahoo answers would help him if used properly in condition to their terms.

My best work for increasing my pagerank. Do more SEO work and try to create as many backlink at many site and blog. Forum signiture also a good backlink.

Well just try it. Some of them have a very high page rank so I think if it's a do follow, you will automatically get a backlink

You also can get a good pagerank if you always comment at many high pagerank blog. Many people do that to generate traffic and get good pagerank. You also can list all high pagerank blogger in your blog. That also will help.

That's not necessarily the case, most blogs nowadays have the nofollow tags so commenting there would mean robot crawling would just stop there. Best is look for dofollow blogs.

I know about that. But i prefer to do that because i can get more visitor and traffic. If i just wait visitor come to my blog, i will never see like what happen to my blog today. Almost everyday have visitor.

I've tried it before and it gets you a natural backlink which is good. How about the results on your site?

I can't tell you much about pagerank, but i can tell you that site looks okay

Been abit cheeky, Just got loads of people to add it to facebook and myspace, getting a few more to add to random things, will take time but will help out alot in the long run.

Im tempted to do this with my site but not sure if I can boost its Page Ranking now

If you want to play it straight, just work on making your content great and the real links will slowly being built up. If you want to play dirty, use many of the SEO techniques or worse be a "black hatter".
