Hey guys, did you notice the New! Gmail Labs when you log in to your account today? I was surprised to see the news annoucement and this is what that appears from there...

Gmail has a new look on the iPhone browser
Now with auto-complete when composing, automatic refreshing, and faster load times when viewing email.

More friends are more fun. Gmail welcomes your AIM® friends.
Now you can talk to your AIM® friends using an integrated chat list right inside Gmail.

Colored labels
Better organize your email with new colored labels. Just click the color swatch next to each label to assign a color.

Group chat
Chat with multiple people without multiple windows. Invite your friends to a group discussion. To start a group chat, click 'Group chat' from the 'Options' menu when chatting.

New emoticons
Start sending richer expressions to your friends.

Free IMAP
Sync your inbox across devices instantly and automatically. Whether you read or write your email on your phone or on your desktop, changes you make to Gmail will be seen from anywhere you access your inbox. Another way to use Gmail on your iPhone is through the browser. By going to m.gmail.com you get the full Gmail experience including conversation view, search, and more.

Thanks for the information; The Labs is indeed a great place to try out great applications from Google on a trial basis before it goes mainstream.

Yep I did notice it written in red to grab attraction since couple of days or months. But then never bothered to find out more by clicking it.

Hmmm.. sounds good. Seems like they are making more and more improvements to Gmail aswell getting ready for the 3g iPhone

Lol but afterall I just can get why Gmail still says "Gmail Beta"???

Well, maybe because the current gmail is pretty basic without much functionality. I think their plan is after they integrate all the new feature mentioned above, then they will start to remove the "beta" tag.

Well when I was browsing around, I found this web review about the gmail lab setting which I think might be worth checking out. They even allow you to provide feedback on whether you like it or not.

Just click the settings button and look for "labs". You can see all the new functions there and then you decide whether you want to try it out.

Thirteen Labs features have recently been added to Gmail, all available to enable or disable in the Settings menu. The thirteen features are: Quick Links, Superstars, Pictures in chat, Fixed with font, Custom keyboard shortcuts, Mouse gestures, Signature tweaks, Random signatures, Custom date format, Muzzle, Old Snakey, Email Addict, Hide unread counts.

Oh those function seem to be great! Would love to have those mouse gestures and those pics in chats ect personally.

But then are those features in beta still or are they out ??? Can we implement them ito out Gmail???

Labs is a great incubator of ideas for Google to come up with new innovations on a limited release first. GoogleMaps for example "graduated" from Labs and go into the mainstream

Yep...in fact the like the idea about creating labs for people to test out. I'm sure the GoogleMaps is the best that I've seen so far until today.
