Knol by Google

Google has just launched Knol, a user generated content site.

It may be a wikipedia killer and there are also accusations that Google is not playing fair by favoring Knol pages in SERP.

I just looked at your link, and it still seems to be in the nascent stage, do you really think it can kill the establishe wikipedia ? N we should stop using google as the prime search engine, as it is google has started to play god with its adsense and PRs.

Sometimes I feel like Google is going too offtrack. BTW wikipedia is a sort of open source so why not support and make it better and free from any drawbacks rather than getting in a competor for it.

Hope GOOGLE does not forget a actual search engine is after running behind everything possible.

I think Knol is meant to be a threat to Wikipedia which currently ranks very high in google's searches. If Knol comes along, I guess Knol will be appear on top of Wikipedia. Soime commentators are even saying that Google is competing with the internet itself by filtering information through its searchss and expansion into other fields.

well I do know a bit about how google works, one of my friends has recently joined the company and she told me that there is a whole bunch of them who do nothing else but look at every possible website. N they can get through most codes to get the info they want. So in essence google watches your every move and then uses it as it wishes.

That is what many commentators are saying about Google that future internet contents will be more or less dictated by Google and this is the most frightening of all notwithstanding Google's founding motto of don't be evil.
