No I dont think there are any hidden charges. Atleast with GD not. I have a couple of domains with them and every thing works great.
Only thing the renewal of .info would be at a normal rate ie aoung $9.5 or something.
Its worth buying them now! You can use them for some affiliate stuff and let them expire without renewing them
Only see that you set your domains on Manual renew and not auto renew
