Review of: All About Aquarium Fish

Review requested By: hwang

I wanted to participate in this contest so I went ahead and chose the most unusual site I could find from the listed ones:
All About Aquarium Fish.
This blog created by Sock Yee from Malaysia, talks about fish and offers tips to start and maintain and aquarium nice and healthy.

I don’t own an aquarium and have never been interested in having one but after reading through this blog and specially seeing some of the pictures I can understand the fascination of watching the colorful fish swim in slow motion through the clear water inside your living room. Hypnotizing, you can probably spend hours watching. An Aquarium must be the coolest piece of decoration one can buy for a home.

I will not comment much on the style or layout since this is a blogger blog and therefore it has some limitations, but I can comment on the content and will say that a beginner aquarium lover can make a good start by just reading a couple of posts from allabout-aquariumfish.

Even though this blog is fairly new, there is already interesting information in it to get you motivated into starting an aquarium hobby. One can tell that Sock Yee cares and understands the little swimmers, this can be sensed through her posts on this blog.

Interesting information found: I had no idea that domesticated aquarium fish could be more colorful than their wild relatives as a result of selective breeding; or that you could actually buy fish through the internet and get them delivered to your home. (Not recommended)

This blog made me want to have an aquarium at home, not that I will do it right away but maybe some time…and when this day comes I will choose a Salt water Reef Ready Aquarium, because the fish that live in salt water have nicer colors and there is also a larger variety to choose from (thanks Sock Yee)

Friendly suggestions:
It would be helpful to find information on specific $$ costs, I mean costs for certain types of aquarium, or fish, decoration, maintenance involved, etc, real examples. Also some indication as how much time one needs to spend per day caring for the fish, etc.
Maybe an idea would be to mention recommended books on the subject. Also, showing bigger pictures of attractive fish and nice aquariums here and there would illustrate the blog and make it at the same time more attractive.

I will rate it 3/5 because there is still so much room for improvement.
